Advanced Standing

Advanced standing will be granted to an individual who has education and clinical experience comparable to Semester I, Semester II and/or Semester III of this Practical Nursing Program within a five (5) year limit.  A current college course of C or better is required.  In lieu of college course, testing will be required to determine whether the prospective student’s knowledge is in accordance with the standards of this program.  An administrative fee of $100.00 will be charged, upon acceptance the fee will be transferred to your tuition account.

 

A qualified applicant is a person who partially completed an approved nursing program or former military corpsman.   Advanced placement will be granted only if it is educationally sound for the applicant concerned.

 

PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY INTO SEMESTER I

 

1.          Make application requesting advanced standing.

2.          Submit evidence meeting academic requirements.

3.          Meet all admission requirements including physical exam.

4.          Submit evidence of having provided comparable theory and/or clinical objectives of Fundamentals,

if requesting advanced standing for this course.  A practical examination in nursing skills may be required.

 

PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY INTO SEMESTER II

 

1.         Make application requesting advanced standing.

2.         Submit evidence of meeting academic requirements.

3.         Meet all admission requirements including physical exam.

4.         Submit evidence of having provided patient care comparable to meeting clinical objectives of Semester I. A practical examination in nursing skills may be required.

5.         Achieve Level 1 or higher on Fundamentals of Nursing ATI content assessment.

 

PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY INTO SEMESTER III

 

1.         Make application requesting advanced standing.

2.         Submit evidence of meeting academic requirements.

3.         Meet all admission requirements including physical exam.

4.         Submit evidence of having provided patient care comparable to meeting clinical objectives of Semester I and Semester II.  A practical examination in nursing skills may be required.

5.         Achieve Level 2 or higher on Fundamentals of Nursing ATI content assessment.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR AFTER APPROVAL OF ADVANCED STANDING PLACEMENT

 

1.         Application (no fee)

2.         Physical

3.         Criminal Background Check

4.         Official High School Transcript

5.         Acceptance Agreement

 

*Students completing the Health Assistants Program Cip Code: 51.0899 will receive advanced standing

as per the articulation agreement.
