Cosmetology

Cosmetology is the art and science of hair, skin, and nail care, and deals with hair cutting and styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, and chemical relaxing for men and women. The Cosmetology program also includes instruction in manicuring, nail application, nail art, facials, skin analysis, and make-up application. A state license must be obtained before becoming a cosmetologist, manicurist, or cosmetician. Students will have the opportunity to obtain 3 professional licensures: 1250 hours of training must be completed prior to being eligible for the license examination for cosmetology, 200 hours for manicurist, and 300 hours for cosmetician (make-up applications).

Introduction to MIG Welding

These classes are deigned to introduce students to the processes of MIG welding.  The course will cover the steps needed to learn how to MIG weld.  Wire installation, power and wire speed calculations, torch positions, speed and setting will be included in the instruction.  The classes will be designed to prepare for the AWS D1.1 structural test or for the Hobbyist that just wants to better improve their welding skills.

Introduction to Stick Welding

These classes are deigned to introduce students to the processes of Stick welding.  Stick welding is formally known as manual metal arc welding or shielded metal arc welding. It is the most popular form of arc welding, but it requires more skill than MIG welding. The classes will be designed to prepare for the AWS D1.1 structural test or for the Hobbyist that just wants to better improve their welding skills.

Booth Space

Booth Space will be available during listed times for individuals wanting to practice or that have a project they would like to complete.  All projects must first be approved by NTCC faculty. Safety instruction will be provided for self-paced learning objectives.

Cost for space               $20.00 hr.

Nail Technician/Manicurist

This course will prepare students for the fast growing, high paying profession of Nail Technician. Basic manicurist skills to advanced techniques, such as, acrylics, gels, wraps, as well as nail art, and pedicures will be included in the course.  After successfully completing this course students will be eligible to take the state board examination.  Cost includes tuition, kit, and required text book.  A physician’s affidavit is required per the PA State Board of Cosmetology.

SERVSAFE Food Handlers Course

This course contains everything needed to strengthen and update the food safety and sanitation in your facility. The latest developments and procedures, current governmental standards and emerging issues are covered, including the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system of food safety. HACCP, developed for food manufacturing, is rapidly becoming the system of choice for food service as well. Restaurants in Pennsylvania are required to have at least one of their employees ServSafe certified. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive the ServSafe food safety certificate, recognized by 95% of state and local jurisdictions that require training or certification.  Required testing will be scheduled at the end of the course.

Your Car Your Money

Topics will include, how to select a new or used car, what is routine vehicle maintenance and inspections on the Hi tech cars of today, and when to use a professional and how to choose one.  An informative course for everyone who drives and only knows that the pedal on the right means “go” and the one on the left means “stop” and much more. This class is not a do it yourself repair shop adventure, It is primary designed to provide you with logical choices, so you don’t take chances on hit and miss strategies.
